Siargao Island is one of the dream destinations for islanders. Even before I went with friends in 2018, it was already one of the top places to visit in the Philippines. I bet people are eagerly wanting to go for a perfect getaway, but it is just difficult because of the travel restrictions due to COVID-19.
After spending over a year in Kuwait, I returned to the Philippines for a well-deserved vacation with my sister and nephew. Since my long stay was confirmed and flights were booked, I planned a trip with friends to Siargao in October 2018.
How to Spend 3D2N in Siargao Island
- Visit Magpupungko Natural Rock Pool
- Book a popular tri-island hopping tour
- Stroll around General Luna
- Take in the stunning Cloud 9 boardwalk views
- Try surfing!
First-Time in Siargao? Here’s What to Expect

Visiting Siargao for the first time can be both thrilling and overwhelming. I felt it too—a mix of excitement and nervous anticipation. But once you let yourself embrace the island’s laid-back vibe, it becomes an experience worth every moment.
Day 1: Arrival & Sunset View
There are two ways to get to Siargao: by plane or by boat. We took a quick flight from Mactan-Cebu International Airport to Siargao Airport via Philippine Airlines, which lasted less than an hour. If you’re coming from Cagayan de Oro, a road trip to Surigao followed by a ferry ride is another option.
To make the most of our 3D2N stay, we rented a Binggo TukTuk for the day. In 2018, the rate was ₱1,700 for 10 hours, including fuel and a driver. If you’re not comfortable riding a motorbike, this is an excellent way to explore the island.

After landing around 1:15 PM, we met our TukTuk driver and headed straight to our accommodation in General Luna. Originally, we planned to visit Magpupungko Natural Rock Pool, but we were advised that it wasn’t the best time due to high tide. Instead of being disappointed, we embraced the change in plans—carpe diem!
We decided to head to Cloud 9, hoping to catch the sunset. Although the weather was gloomy, we didn’t regret going. The view was still breathtaking, and the vibe was peaceful.

By evening, we stopped by the local market to grab fresh ingredients for breakfast, then had dinner at Kermit, one of Siargao’s top-rated restaurants. A perfect end to our first day!
Day 2: Island Hopping & Surfing
The next morning, we were full of energy and excitement for our Private Tri-Island Hopping Tour for 3, which we booked through Siargao Island Hopping Tour. What made me choose them? Their purpose—the tour is run by and for the youth of Siargao, which resonated with me.

Tri-Island Hopping Itinerary
Naked Island – A stunning white sandbar surrounded by turquoise waters. No trees, no structures—just pure island beauty, reminiscent of White Island in Camiguin.

Daku Island – The largest of the three islands and our lunch stop. With swaying palm trees and a long shoreline, it’s perfect for wandering beyond the usual tourist spots.

Guyam Island – A small, picturesque island with a laid-back atmosphere. There’s a mini café where you can grab shakes and burgers—ideal for an afternoon snack.
Coffee Mango is a must try!

Palm trees. Ocean waves. Cold drinks. Music. Can you picture it? That’s the perfect island escape.

But our adventure didn’t end there!

After island hopping, we headed back to Cloud 9 for a surfing session. At first, I was hesitant—I didn’t know how to swim in deep waters. But my instructor assured me that as long as I followed the safety guidelines, I’d be fine. Plus, the beginner’s area was relatively shallow.

Taking that first wave? Priceless. The joy on my face said it all—surfing in Siargao was worth the try!
Day 3: Strolling Through General Luna
Our flight back to Cebu was at 11 AM, but we wanted to make the most of our last morning in the island. Without a set destination, we simply wandered through General Luna, taking in the island’s charm. Along the way, we discovered vibrant street murals, checked out souvenir shops, and admired the beauty of simple island living.

A trip to Siargao isn’t complete without visiting Shaka Café, known for its fresh smoothie bowls. It was the perfect way to wrap up our trip before heading to the airport.
Where to Stay in Siargao on a Budget
We stayed at Blauset Haus, and I highly recommend it for budget travelers. Here’s why:
- Cozy & Instagram-worthy – Perfect for capturing aesthetic travel photos.
- Kitchenette amenities – Ideal if you want to cook your own meals and enjoy fresh seafood without overspending.
- Breezy atmosphere – While not beachfront, the pool and sunbathing areas provide a relaxing vibe.

Are you ready to explore Siargao? 🌴✨ It would be best if you visit sometime. It is fascinating how the simple life in the province or island answers your wonders. It was nice.
