Daily Prompt

Technology can provide us a lot more convenient and more accessible life than way back decades before. We don’t need a messenger anymore to run as fast as he can to send the message we want to deliver. These days, all we need to do is tap-type-send, T-E-X-T.

Emoticons help a lot, as in a lot. HAHA. You know, it is cool to text using emoticons because sending emoticons to the person you intend to text with is also allowing them to imagine what your face would look like if you are talking to them in person.

But one thing I despise Text World is, evil pranks are also instant. I can still recall how my mom reacted to the text message she received, as she narrated it to me, saying that my brother hit by a car and was hospitalized – critical. What makes it more believable was, the sender mentioned my brother’s name.

As reading the text, my mom instantly cried and got panic. She went to the nearest public hospital, crying, shaking, calling my brother’s number – no answer, called him again and she felt relieved. To prove and reassure that my brother was okay, she even went to my brother’s school (he was still high-school that time). And thank God he was okay, and it was just a prank.

I indeed condemn those pranks that deals with life and death. I am sure I am not alone with this.

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “It’s a Text, Text, Text, Text World.”
